I am a husband, dad and sometimes human who lives in South Africa. For the last 8 years I was a teacher and principal of a private school but due to unexpected events, I am now on a new journey. One where I am a full-time stay-at-home dad, homeschooler and generally trying to come to terms with the ever-changing nature of life. Come along for the ride where I try to figure out how to redefine myself and discuss, parenting, homemaking, work, mental health, and all things rattling around inside my mind. What I found fascinating as an educator working with families in the middle class was how was exposed to so much hidden emotional damage. All of it was usually well protected behind years of defence mechanisms. The upper-middle-class have a kind of rushed confusion around life, and particularly around their children because they have been burdened with what seems to be the weight of choice.
